most_uniQue Theft and Copyright Infringement Operation Details

most_uniQue is a low level app cracker with little skill. He uses other people's cracking tools to release iPhone, iPad, and iPod apps for free. He removes the weak encryption from Apple and then releases the apps on popular websites for this purpose such as AppTrackr and iPhoneCake.

The following describes how his current theft operation works.

1. People desiring apps go to his twitter account: http://twitter.com/#!/most_unique

It looks like this:

He is apparently confused about what Robin Hood did. Robin Hood stole from the rich and gave to the poor. most_uniQue steals from some rich, mostly poor, struggling developers, and gives their goods away for free to people who probably have the means to buy a 99 cent app.

Also notice the background that looks like it is from a howling wolf t-shirt.

Back on topic: Users submit a request via a simple link on the twitter page: http://bit.ly/CrackRequest

This brings them to a Google Docs form which looks like this:

Simple enough. Notice the request for signup on FileSonic.com

If they signup, most_uniQue gets a nice kickback for his illegal services. He uses the funds from the filesonic signup affiliation to purchase apps from the iTunes App Store. He then cracks the apps using simple tools.

After that he likes to post links to the files on AppTrackr, iPhoneCake, and PasteBay. Two sites which use offshore servers who don't comply to the DMCA. Even if they did, the operators would claim that they only link to the infringing materials, or that they aren't responsible for their users. It's just a punk scam.

He hosts the files on filesonic, filedude.com, and fileape.com

Filesonic and FileApe respond to DMCA takedown notices and will remove the files.

FileDude, an offshore server, offers up a fax number for their DMCA requests. I've never gotten through.

FileDude and FileApe try to get money by soliciting "Donations" for "Premium Access" using PayPal.

PayPal won't remove their accounts even though they are well aware of the illegal operation.

MidPhase... the hosting service for FileApe won't cancel FileApe's account despite repeated offenses and violation of their own terms of service.

Filesonic has yet to remove most_uniQue as an affiliate despite repeated showing of the operation to them.

Twitter won't remove most_uniQue's twitter account, even though it violates their "Twitter Rules."

Unlawful Use: You may not use our service for any unlawful purposes or in furtherance of illegal activities.

Basically, everyone involved is profiting.

PayPal profits by receiving a percentage of the donation transactions.
MidPhase profits by charging hosting services to fileape.
Twitter profits by having another account to advertise on.
FileSonic profits due to additional premium user signups.
most_uniQue profits by his filesonic kickback and stealing the work of others.

Since everyone is profiting, no one wants to do anything about it. Nobody will stand up and do the right thing so long as they continue to get paid.

According to most_uniQue's horrible looking website: http://www.mostunique.me/

It lists his name as Jason Scott and is either living in Miami or Helsinki.

We will update this page with current events as we deal with DOJ, IC3, Miami Dade, the University of Helsinki, PayPal, FileSonic, MidPhase, Twitter, and anyone else involved.
